I do not intend this post to be a cynical look at society and what is it's ailment but rather as an anchor of hope thrust in the dept of it's despair, but hear first the basis for this unshakable hope.
Jeremiah 2:12-13 CPDV
Be astonished at this, O heavens, and be utterly desolate, O gates of heaven, says the Lord. For my people have done two evils. They have forsaken me, the Fountain of living water, and they have dug for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns that are unable to hold water.
It is the end of another year and the world is still the same. Dissatisfied and hurting, the world sees atrocities and injustices and reacts with civil, war and disobedience. The desire for freedom from oppression keeps increasing but the road to it is still paved too often with violence and abuse and thirst for power. Greed is still one of the major force ruling political, economical, social and racial agendas. Hatred and thirst of power is still hiding behind religion to justify mass murder and exile of people . Most feel powerless to do anything about it or could we, could the human race really put and end to the despair? I'd like to answer yes to that but it would take quite a heart shift a major turn around a major going back to God, there,I said it, just had too.
Ok now put aside the part about God for a minute and let's think about the truth of that yes, is it so hard to see the possibility of people putting aside their agenda and putting the good of others before theirs, and is it so unbelievable that people would live, by principle of truth and justice and charity, that there would be one common goal, that each and everyone would have the wellbeing of their neighbors at heart. There would be no war, no crime, no poverty, no jealousy, no envy, no cheating, no violence, no want, no hatred, no drug abuse, no unwanted pregnancies, no unwanted child, there would be no need for accumulating wealth, to live for profit except the profit of all, people would have all what they need , because society would f function differently, wait a minute were did I see this before;
Acts 4:33, 35 MSG
The whole congregation of believers was united as one—one heart, one mind! They didn't even claim ownership of their own possessions. No one said, "That's mine; you can't have it." They shared everything. The apostles gave powerful witness to the resurrection of the Master Jesus, and grace was on all of them. And so it turned out that not a person among them was needy. Those who owned fields or houses sold them and brought the price of the sale to the apostles and made an offering of it. The apostles then distributed it according to each person's need.
I know you'll say it's been done over and over on smaller scale with all kinds of twists and flaws, and often with nothing close to the spirit of Christ. Am I advocating some kind of commune or socialism, no because these things don't work because of mans heart. The world as tried to be more loving, more sharing, more thoughtful, more caring and in many case it does great but in many case it's like broken cisterns, all what's good seeps by the cracks, what remain is the call of God
Jeremiah 3: 22, 25 MSG
" The sound of voices comes drifting out of the hills, the unhappy sound of Israel's crying, Israel lamenting the wasted years, never once giving her God a thought. "Come back, wandering children! I can heal your wanderlust!" "We're here! We've come back to you. You're our own true God! All that popular religion was a cheap lie, duped crowds buying up the latest in gods. We're back! Back to our true God, the salvation of Israel. The Fraud picked us clean, swindled us of what our ancestors bequeathed us, Gypped us out of our inheritance— God-blessed flocks and God-given children. We made our bed and now lie in it, all tangled up in the dirty sheets of dishonor. All because we sinned against our God, we and our fathers and mothers. From the time we took our first steps, said our first words, we've been rebels, disobeying the voice of our God."
So it's yes the world could be totally transformed, but it won't, it will continue to live in the post-paradise era with doing great good and great evils and continue in it self determination or otherwise it would have to admit that it is fallen, and that it walked away from God long time ago and it would have to admit that it needs a savior.
Well time to wrap this up,I know does not sound to positive, but on the contrary I think it is,I think the broken cisterns of the world are being unveiled, and that the one and only solution is being pushed forward. The world is tired and weary, and God has all what it needs, and that is truth.
Matthew 11:28 NIV
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
God has rest for a tired world that does not know where to turn too.
